Canberra Raiders veteran Josh Papalii has confirmed his famous ankle injury which dominated headlines last week prior to the side’s classic finals clash with the Brisbane Broncos was very real.
The new Raiders life member revealed the extent of the injury and that he couldn’t even get his footy boot on prior to the game.
“There were a few question marks over myself and my ability but once I got out there and warmed up and you could hear the Canberra crowd, adrenaline took over,” Papalii told The Canberra Daily.
“I mean, I couldn’t put my boot on properly but other than that, I was fine.
“I’ve had injuries before that have held me back a little bit, but once I hear the crowd, I’m all guns blazing.”
