2024 premiership-winner Paul Alamoti has revealed he had made the starting side ahead of Tom Jenkins for the elimination final against the New Zealand Warriors by… Tom Jenkins.
Speaking to The Western Weekender, a shocked Alamoti thought the news may have come from the coaching staff or head coach Ivan Cleary.
Jenkins has been a surprise performer for the four-straight Panthers and had kept him spot on the flank for the majority of the season.
“I just knew how I could get myself back into the NRL squad by simply just training hard and playing good week in, week out,” the winger said.
“That was my mindset and focus the last two to three months.
“I probably wasn’t playing to the standard I know I can play to.
“I trust that coach makes the right decision.
“I guess it was a blessing in disguise.”
