Rugby league icon Ron Massey has passed away aged 86. Considered one of the greatest thinkers in the game, Massey was considered an innovator ahead of his time and helped Jack Gibson steer both Eastern Suburbs and Parramatta to premierships in the 1970’s and 1980’s respectively.

His name lives on as the Ron Massey Cup grand final will be played this Sunday as a curtain raiser to the Intrust Super Premiership decider at Parramatta Stadium.
