Kiwi International Sam Perrett has joined fellow veteran winger James McManus in retirement today saying 2016 will be his final season in the NRL.

Despite appearing in grand finals for both Canterbury and the Sydney Roosters – Perrett is still to win the big one and will be hoping the Bulldogs can help him achieve his dream.

“It’s been a tough decision and an emotional one, but it’s time for me to hang up the boots,” said Perrett.

“This year will be my last season playing rugby league and it’s been such an amazing journey.

“I’m so grateful and thankful for the relationships that I have, the teammates I have played alongside and against, the coaching staff that have helped me along the way and my family for everything they’ve gone through.

“My family has put in a lot of time and sacrifice to support me and it’s time to move onto the next phase of my life, which I’m really excited about.”

Perrett says the goal is now the grand final.

“I’m not aiming for anything less.

“I’m going to give my best for the last eight weeks and it’s going to be everything I’ve got to get that title.”
