Parramatta club official Max Donnelly has confirmed the Eels were only willing to offer Jarryd Hayne $800,000 a season and to offer anymore would mean shedding further players from an already depleted roster.

“The only way we could have done that was to get rid of players,” Donnelly told News Corp.

“And if we do any more, it could have an impact on the unity of the team.”
