Parramatta in more hot water while former Sharks face lengthy bans

More salary cap dramas are set to rock the Parramatta Eels after a News Corp report suggested the Eels had a long history of cheating the cap by rewarding players’ third-party sponsors with corporate boxes at both Pirtek Stadium and ANZ Stadium.

Minutes from a 2014 board meeting show Eels administrators openly talking about the scheme.

The report also suggested NFL superstar Jarryd Hayne was paid tens of thousands of dollars after leaving for the San Francisco 49ers.

Parramatta have already coughed up almost half a million dollars for salary cap breaches in 2014.

Meanwhile former Cronulla players Colin Best, Paul Aiton, Ben Pomeroy, John Williams, and Stuart Flanagan have been served with violation notices by the NRL and face two year bans for doping according to Fairfax.

The five players were the only ones that didn’t cop a deal from ASADA in 2014.
