Ruthless Flanagan wants Cronulla in the top four and he wants it now

Coach Shane Flanagan isn’t expecting much from his Sharks players in 2016 – only a top four finish and he wants it locked up with plenty of time to spare.

The Sharks were bundled out of the Finals last season by eventual Premiers North Queensland.

“I’d like to think the squad has got better the last couple of years that I’ve been coaching them,” Flanagan said.

“We had a reasonable year last year, we put ourselves in the race at the end of the year and I’d like to think we can do that again this year.

“We can push into that top four. We fell short last year but it’s definitely a goal this year to make sure we don’t fall short.”

“We shouldn’t be leaving it to the last game to make it – we should be able to put ourselves in a position to where we don’t have to win the last game of the year to make the top four.”

The Sharks play Wests Tigers this weekend at Campbelltown.
