‘Maybe won’t have that sort of connection’: Jarome Luai on running onto new Panthers stadium in Wests Tigers colours

Outgoing Penrith Panthers five-eighth Jarome Luai has conceded his time is running out in the famous black jersey as his switch in 2025 Wests Tigers looms.

Luai, speaking to the Western Weekender, was asked about returning to what will be a completely renovated Penrith Stadium in a few years in a black, gold and white strip instead of the one he has worn to three straight premierships.

The ground in its current form will be knocked down at the end of 2024 when the $300 million renovation will begin.

“It’s probably a good thing to be honest the timing the stadium will look different and so will my jersey – maybe I won’t have that sort of connection to the new place but who knows, man,” Luai said.

“At this point in time, Penrith Stadium is a place that I love and a place where we want to make every game this year count.”

The Panthers play the Titans in their last official premiership match at the ground in August.
