Former enforcer Steve Roach has taken officials to task over a penalty given against the Gold Coast Titans after their pre-season loss to the Dolphins on Sunday night.
Titans forward Klese Haas was penalised for desperately trying to stop oponent Gerome Burns breaking through the line and in a last ditch effort – grabbed Burns’ flowing locks with the ends of his fingers.
Referee Chris Butler had no hesitation making the call which is a current law of the game and forbidden.
“If you’re going to have hair like that you’re going to get it pulled,” Roach said on Fox League’s coverage.
“I don’t know how they train the off-season in the heat with hair like that.”
Titans led 8-4 at the time but were run down 26-14.
