‘A really big five weeks of rugby league’: Mature Warriors preparing for finals footy but not getting ahead of themselves

The New Zealand Warriors aren’t getting excited – yet.

Andrew Webster’s team has been the fairy tale story of NRL season 2023 so far in their first full season back at home since spending two seasons in a Queensland bubble during COVID with the Auckland-based Warriors sitting pretty inside the top four.

“We’re doing good,” star fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad said.

“We’re in good stead and set our season out really well.

“But I just believe you can’t get too far ahead of yourself.

“Really we haven’t achieved anything. We’re in the top four ant the moment and that’s just how it is at the moment. We’ve got a really big five weeks of rugby league coming up and it will be a week-by-week mentality.”

The Warriors place the Titans this weekend before a clash with 17th placed Wests Tigers in Hamilton.
