The South Sydney Rabbitohs reportedly knocked back a deal that would have seen young Melbourne Storm star Jonah Pezet on a loan deal at Redfern in 2026.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Souths decided against the play earlier in the year.
Souths finished a disappointing season outside the finals and were in danger of securing the dreaded wooden spoon at one stage.
Pezet starred for the Storm on the weekend in the finals win against Canterbury – replacing the injured Jahrome Hughes.
The Storm will play next in a grand final qualifier at AAMI Park in two weeks time.
