Bienvenu Paul Barrière – newest member of the Th81stMinute Hall of Fame and French Resister

The Rugby League World Cup is on a few months.
And it is time to respect and appreciate the work of Frenchman Paul Barrière.
After all, his name is on the World Cup trophy.
In World War II, Barrière joined the French Resistance against the Nazis and met with rugby league officlals.
Before World War II, rugby league was the dominant rugby code in France but due to the Vichy government – rugby league was outlawed.
We welcome Paul Barrière to our Hall of Fame.
