Benji Marshall believes going back to his old playing style which made him a superstar at the Wests Tigers in the 2000’s will only help himself and the struggling St George Illawarra Dragons who have started the year 0-2.
The halfback wants to bring his running game back with a vengeance and the Saints will be hoping it begins with this weekend against South Sydney at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
“Starting out in the NRL, my running game was really my strength,’’ Marshall told The Daily Telegraph.
“And that’s what I’ve been working hard on this year, trying to get that going again.
“Sometimes becoming a halfback, you get told you’re a ballplayer and so you turn into that. You forget the running aspect of your game.
“So I’ve been trying to get back to that. And it’s definitely building.”
Marshall also defended laughing on live television when told about his club’s $300,000 offer to renew his contract.
“But I didn’t even know that was the offer,’’ he said.
“I was told on TV how that was the offer, which is why I laughed.”
