Brisbane Broncos 48 (Greg Eden 2, Aaron Whitchurch 2, Marion Seve, Jordan Kahu, James Roberts, Kodi Nikorima, Anthony Milford tries; Corey Parker 3, Jordan Kahu 3 goals) defeated the North QLD Cowboys 26 (Kalyn Ponga, Josh Chudleigh, Jack Creith, Jahrome Hughes, Patrick Mago tries; Kyle Laybutt 3 goals) at Bundaberg, Crowd: 8000.
• Broncos scored 38 unanswered points to put the cleaners through the Cowboys
• Cowboys led 22-10 at half-time
• Anthony Milford solid in his first appearance since Maroons axing
• Matt Gillett named Man of the Match
• Englishman Greg Eden was equally as good nabbing a brace of tries

 

Penrith Panthers 20 (Malakai Watene-Zelezniak 2, Leilani Latu, Josh Hall; Jamie Soward 2 goals) defeated PNG Hunters 12 (Adex Wera 2, Philimone Kimisive tries) at Port Moresby, Crowd: 15,000.
• Jamie Soward controlled the game nicely which included a try assist for Josh Hall
• Malakai Watene-Zelezniak scored a double and almost had three tries for the match
• Leilani Latu opened the scoring and has now been added to Indigenous All Stars squad
• The Hunters may have stolen the match if not for a couple of bombed tries

 

 

St George Illawarra 50 (Blake Wallace 3, Peter Mata’utia 2, Jason Nightingale, Adam Quinlan, Patrick Herbert, Sam Coster tries; Gareth Widdop 3, Wallace 4 goals) defeated Wynnum Manly 6 (Matthew Seamark try; Seamark goal) at Redlands, Crowd: 2000.
• Russell Packer was strong opening with a 25 minute stint
• Illawarra Cutter Blake Wallace grabbed a hat-trick and kicked four goals
• Leeson Ah Mau was arguably best on-field
• Shaun Nona partnered captain Gareth Widdop in the halves
• Kiwi International Siliva Havili was also strong in his first match for the Saints
