No runs until the 56th minute: Gallen questions Latrell Mitchell selection

Former New South Wales captain Paul Gallen says he is worried about rookie centre Latrell Mitchell’s work rate ahead of his State of Origin debut at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Speaking on Channel Nine’s 100% Footy, Gallen believes the Blues outside backs will have trouble working it out of their own end.

“Latrell Mitchell on the weekend didn’t have a touch of the ball until the 56th minute. He had two carries the whole game,” Gallen said.

“And that’s not a bloke putting himself into the game. In Origin he has to put himself into the game.”

Meanwhile Blues legend Steve Roach believes the Blues were right in selecting Canterbury tyro David Klemmer. Speaking on Fox Sports Monday night, Roach did admit Klemmer was lacking an offload in his game but if he could develop that he’d become one of the best props of all time.
