FOR MACARTHUR RUGBY LEAGUE WRAP

Desperately frustrated and fed-up Narellan Jets life members and club stalwarts have taken the incredible step of confronting club officials at Narellan Sports Ground demanding an Extraordinary General Meeting over the future of the once-proud club.

The lodgement, with eighteen signatures from life members and Narellan greats, was handed over last Thursday.

Narellan have 28 days to reply, as per the constitution, but those wanting change are not holding their breath for any immediate response.

“They have no respect for Group 6 or the New South Wales Rugby League,” one source close to the situation told MRLW.

“There’s no committee [and] there hasn’t been a meeting all year.

“How can you run a senior club like that?”

Many more disillusioned former players and supporters are hoping for the NSWRL to step in as they have done previously.

Upheaval would see the Narellan Jets headed into their 50th year in 2027 under new leadership and a return to an old-school committee.

As reported by the81stminute.com and MRLW in May of 2025 – Narellan’s senior teams faced expulsion “with reports of destruction of important financial paperwork, serious debt, question marks over player welfare and life members walking away from the club.”

The NSWRL attended Narellan’s 2024 AGM where they were given “stern ultimatums”.

“We figured the whole helping with the committee and rebuilding the club would have gone a lot better than it has,” a Jets insider told us at the time.

“We were quickly squeezed out of communications, club decisions, including financial ones.

“Darrin [Patton – Jets President] and Rebecca [O’Brien – Jets Secretary] took over the role of sponsorship by arranging and having meetings…”

“The senior club is under watch by NSWRL due to how the club was run last year and the AGM for the 2025 season was tabled by Stephen Hazelton [NSWRL League and Club Support Coordinator] because of this fact.

“The club was in over $40,000 debt from the previous season with many players not receiving payments for games from the previous season.

“The previous committee withheld and deleted [and] destroyed paperwork and financials from the previous seasons.”

Those threats were to fall on deaf ears.

In December, the Narellan Jets as we knew them, got their marching orders and were expelled from top-flight competition.

The81stminute.com understands the senior club [playing third grade] has spent upwards of $100,000 alone in 2026.
