Melbourne Storm legend and Clive Churchill Medallist Billy Slater will play his 300th NRL game in round 1, 2018 after confirming he will play on next season.

“This club’s given me so much,” Slater said.

“The commitment that they showed me and the loyalty that they showed me only 18 months ago when I was going for my second shoulder operation – the uncertainty over whether I would ever play rugby league again – this club never showed me once that they were hesitant of putting a contract in front of me and they gave me an opportunity to play again this year.

“I didn’t know myself whether I was going to be fit enough to wear a Melbourne storm jersey again but I’m really really grateful for that opportunity that they’ve given me.”
