‘I wish I started at the Storm’: Jason Ryles takes shot at Dragons

St George Illawarra great Jason Ryles says if he had his time over he never would have spent so long at the Dragons and conceded that if he had his time over he would have begun his career at the Melbourne Storm.

Ryles is now an assistant coach at the Storm but spent almost a decade in first grade at the Red V.

“To put it in perspective I wish I’d started here (Melbourne), not finished here,” Ryles told the Storm website.

“It just all made sense, your job was simple, you heard the same messaging nearly every week. The same message, the same process which therefore breeds consistency out on the field.

“That is one of the things I wasn’t used to with the Clubs I’d been at. I was lucky to have good coaches but that process and the way we do things here, it helps you be more consistent.”
