Dropped English rugby convert Sam Burgess may not be heading back to the National Rugby League after all with UK bookmaker Sky Bet closing betting on whether or not Burgess would sign with league powerhouse Leeds who are about to face Wigan in the Super League Grand Final.
Burgess’ short time in the 15-man code has polarised opinion and there seems to be a strong rumour now circulating that Burgess will end at Headingley rather than former NRL club South Sydney where he won a premiership in 2014.
“We received a number of requests on our Twitter account for Sam Burgess to sign for Leeds Rhinos shortly before and after England lost to Australia,” Sky Bet’s Jordan Fiddes said.
“We went up originally at 8/1, then went down to 6/1 after a series of bets came in.
“We’ve since taken the market down in case some people know something we don’t!”
Meanwhile the Super League decider at Old Trafford is officially a sellout and the perfect jab to the Rugby World Cup who booked England to play on the same day in Manchester.
