“Fighting hard to keep him”: Rabbitohs CEO Blake Solly wants Wayne Bennett at Souths despite rumours of switch to new PNG franchise

South Sydney Rabbitohs CEO Blake Solly will be fighting tooth-and-nail to keep legendary coach Wayne Bennett at the club beyond his current deal.

Bennett, who has coached 950 NRL matches, is in his second stint at Souths, but has been linked to the new PNG franchise.

His current deal expires at the end of 2027.

“My message to Peter [V’landys] is,” Solly began on 2GB on Wednesday.

“We will be fighting hard to keep him.”

Solly also confirmed the Rabbitohs would be aggressively pushing ahead with plans to return to the Sydney Football Stadium despite a deal in place with Accor Stadium at Homebush.
