The New Zealand Warriors can’t do a thing wrong heading into the new NRL season after claiming a major award over the ditch on Wednesday night.

From their website, “The Halberg Awards is a New Zealand’s premiere event recognising and honouring outstanding achievements in New Zealand sports.”

Voted by the public, the Warriors took home “New Zealand’s Favourite Sporting Moment” category for their incredible comeback over Cronulla in the driving rain at Shark Park.

“The victory over the Sharks is up there as one of the biggest wins and biggest moments in our club’s history,” said Warriors CEO Cameron George.

“To come back like that, the determination the side showed, summed up our season overall I thought.

“We had the fans showing amazing support for us all season and they’ve shown it again by voting for the club to win this award. We thank them so much for their commitment to us.”

The Warriors continue their pre-season this weekend in Christchurch in a match against Wests Tigers.
