Penrith Panthers premiership-winning coach Phil Gould, who is currently head of football at the Canterbury Bulldogs, has revealed a Queensland State of Origin tactic could stop the Panthers in their tracks on Sunday in the grand final against Brisbane.

The Maroons, under Billy Slater, spoiled the Blues party winning the series and a lot had to do with how that shut down Isaah Yeo through the middle of the ruck.

“One of the real keys to the Panthers attack and why it functions so beautifully is the way Isaah Yeo commands the middle part of the field as a lock forward with his ball playing linking up with both Luai and Cleary,” he said on Nine’s 100% Footy.

“I thought Queensland did a really good job on him in the first couple of Origins cutting down his time and space.

“Isaah’s a very dominant player and he’s a very experienced player but he’s also still conservative, he doesn’t push passes, he doesn’t like to make mistakes.”
