Maroons legend calls for left field selection to replace injured Tom Dearden in halves for Origin Game I

Queensland legend Corey Parker has called for the Maroons to replace the injured Tom Dearden with a left field selection for State of Origin Game I and pick unsung Warriors hero Tanah Boyd.

Boyd has been one of the surprise packets of 2026 and Parker believes Boyd’s long kicking game would be perfect for the opener in Sydney.

“Tanah Boyd is a stable [selection],” Parker said on SENQ Breakfast on Monday morning.

“Kicks long, makes his tackles, rips in, has a crack, got a wonderful kicking game… because Sam Walker’s long kicking game is not ideal.

“Munster’s kicking game in the series last year wasn’t ideal either, if you remember.”

Boyd will have the perfect opportunity to impress QLD coach Billy Slater when the Warriors play the Broncos on Sunday afternoon at Suncorp in Magic Round.
