‘Simply the best’: Tributes flow for rock superstar and voice of Winfield Cup Tina Turner

Music icon Tina Turner has died at the age of 83 after battling a long illness.

The rock ‘n’ roll superstar was the voice of rugby league in the iconic Winfield Cup advertising campaigns of the 1980s and 1990s.

Former players, journalists and fans came together on social media Thursday morning to pay their respects.

The Queen of Rock 'n' Roll was the face of Australian Rugby League during the 80s & 90s, making appearances at @NRL Grand Finals & in several TV commercials, just like this one.
