Former NRL superstar and Dally M Medal winner Jarryd Hayne has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in her home in Newcastle in 2018.
The decision was handed down on Monday where the Parramatta Eels great was found not guilty of sexual assault inflicting actual bodily harm but the “lesser” charge of sexual assault.
Channel Nine’s Kelly Fedor tweeted, “Jury in Jarryd #Hayne trial has been told “not to engage in debate about consent law in general” following a lot of media reporting about other matters.”
This was the second trial in which Hayne faced jurors and had pleaded not guilty on all charges.
“You should and you must disregard anything that is not evidence in this matter when considering your verdicts in this trial,” the judge directed the jury on Monday before a decision was handed down.
