Peta Hiku had to choose between staying stuck in Australia or going home to see birth of child

New Zealand Warriors centre has told The Sydney Morning Herald about the decision he had to make after his side’s loss to Newcastle last Saturday.

The Warriors were informed they would be isolated in Australia to continue their NRL campaign after their home country put a lock down on all incoming travelers due to the coronavirus.

“It was a bit of a tough decision but I wanted to be there for my partner,” Hiku said.

“It was tough in terms of what would happen if I came home the following week? Would I be in isolation? Would I be able to go the hospital for the baby?

“What made it tougher was the amount of time we were given to make the decision.

“Geez, they didn’t give us time to come up with a plan B.”
