Premiership-winning Canterbury Bulldogs five-eighth Braith Anasta believes his former club can’t win the competition if they don’t drastically improve on their tight victory over North Queensland on the weekend.
After weeks of turmoil at Belmore, coach Cameron Ciraldo finally bit the bullet and dropped Lachlan Galvin from the 17 who has only just joined the Bulldogs after being granted a controversial release from Wests Tigers.
Galvin’s admission from the squad saw the spine that got the Bulldogs to 1st place back in control of the side.

But Anasta expected more from the side in Townsville.
“Watching the game on the weekend, I thought, this team, the way they’re attacking, can’t win the comp,” Anasta said on Fox League’s NRL360.
“It was really an eye opener to me.
“I was hoping they would improve going back to the team they did have.

“But they didn’t.
“Their defence has been amazing and won them this game.
“What really concerned me was, they were playing the team that’s got the worst defence in the competition, and they only scored the points that they did.”
