Former New South Wales Blues half and one-time assistant coach Greg Alexander has called for Blues enforcer Spencer Leniu to keep his cool when he takes on the Queenslanders tonight in the opening State of Origin clash.
A sold-out Suncorp Stadium will be waiting for Leniu and the Blues after Leniu’s recent confrontation with Queensland icon Johnathan Thurston during an NRL match where Thurston was working for Channel Nine.
“I don’t want to see Spencer Leniu have the red mist completely take over,” Alexander said on SEN Radio.
“You want a bit of it, but you don’t want him throwing the ball away.
“I want him to keep his head.”
Brisbane’s Courier-Mail newspaper this week labelled Leniu a “grub” on the front page of the paper.
