“Walking around like a king”: Mal Meninga says Jamal Fogarty and agent made contract error in not waiting for expansion clubs to enter NRL

Current Australian head coach and Canberra Raiders legend Mal Meninga has questioned Jamal Fogarty’s decision to sign a three-year deal at the Manly Sea Eagles from 2026.

Fogarty is in career-best form at the Raiders this season but Meninga believes Fogarty’s agreement and guidance from his player agent has missed the big picture.

“I think he would be great for the PNG side,” The premiership-winner told SEN Radio.

“He’s a Queenslander, he’s Indigenous, he’s an invaluable position and then you look at the money and the opportunity he would be silly not to have a look at it.

“PNG has a bad rap at times but I can assure you if you’re playing league out there you will be walking around like a king.

“My advice would be let’s have a look at backing yourself and then see what opportunities arise from the Bears and PNG.

“There would be a bidding war for him, clubs want a game manager like him.”
