We are only three rounds into the 2025 season, but Queensland legend Corey Parker believes North Queensland coach Todd Payten could face the sack if the Cowboys are thrashed in their local derby on Friday night against the Brisbane Broncos.
The Cowboys are 0-2 after disappointing losses to Manly-Warringah and Cronulla.
“If things go in the way of Brisbane and things get out of hand… it could spell some real trouble for not only Todd Payten but also for the Cowboys,” Parker said on SEN.
“In Round two, he wielded the axe [and] he got rid of Nanai [and] he’s trying to show his team that it doesn’t matter who you are, what contract size you’ve got, you need to uphold this standard.
“I know it’s Round three but this is a huge game for the Cowboys.”
