Melbourne Storm star Harry Grant concedes the club’s grand final loss to the all-conquering Penrith Panthers was still “fresh” in their minds ahead of the new season.
The Storm will head to Hamilton in New Zealand to face the Warriors while the Panthers have decided not to trial again before heading to Las Vegas to face Cronulla in round one at the home of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Penrith will be the only of the four clubs before Vegas not to play another trial match after knocking back a trial against Storm feeder club, North Sydney.
“[Losing to Penrith] still feels pretty fresh,” Grant told NRL.com.
“In saying that, we’ve had a really good opportunity to train together, iron out some creases and ultimately work hard together.
“There’s a number of guys who are just waiting for games now.
“We’re at the point in the pre-season where everyone’s keen to play some footy.”
The Storm host the Panthers in round three in a grand final re-match.
