WA Government commits $500 million to new NRL club after WA Premier meets with the NRL in Sydney

The Western Australian government has reportedly committed $500 million worth of funding and infrastructure investment to bring the National Rugby League back to Perth.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, WA Premier Roger Cook with the NRL in Sydney with the agreement in place to expand HBF Stadium and inject funds into development and junior programs.

It is understood the NRL could control the club for the first few years before being hand to the locals to the run the club into the future.

First grade rugby league has not been seen in Perth since the Western Reds were folded at the end of 1997 due to the Super League War.
