Legendary fullback Billy Slater believes Manly star Tom Trbojevic is battling and lucky to have the fun custodian on the field after their classic finals win against Canterbury on Sunday afternoon.

“He wouldn’t be able to put his seat belt on… he wouldn’t be able to grab the Vegemite out of his cupboard today,” Slater said on Channel Nine’s The Billy Slater Podcast.

“It would be that sore and it just shows the toughness, courage and bravery some of these players are playing with and there’d be a lot of players out there that we have no idea what injuries they’re covering up and playing with.

“But it was evident Tommy was in some sort of discomfort yesterday and he’s going to be for the rest of the year but the Manly Sea Eagles need their fullback.”
