“We were used conveniently”: Dolphins CEO Terry Reader takes a swipe at player managers after recent contract talks

Redcliffe Dolphins CEO Terry Reader has taken a swipe at player managers that used the club’s name to pump up contracts for star players in negotiations where they went on to sign with a rival.

The Dolphins were reportedly in the mix for several big name players including Cameron Munster and Kalyn Ponga before both re-signed with their respective teams.

They were also linked to Reece Walsh, Ryan Matterson and Harry Grant at different times.

“People talk about players we apparently missed out on,” Reader told foxsports.com.au.

“There was a large amount of players that we apparently missed out on who we never even spoke to.

“We were used conveniently with players who were in negotiations with their current clubs.”

Despite sitting outside the top 8 currently, the Dolphins debut season has been a slam dunk success with Tom Flegler, Herbie Farnworth and Jake Averillo joining the club in 2024.
