“I like this from Benji”: Former Wests Tigers half supports Marshall and against club signing Sea Eagles utility Josh Schuster

Former Australian and Blues playmaker Braith Anasta has backed Wests Tigers future coach Benji Marshall’s stance against bringing Manly Sea Eagles utility Josh Schuster to the club as a replacement for the outgoing Luke Brooks who is headed the other way.

There are reports Marshall and current Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens are still not happy that club officials went ahead and signed Scott Fulton as head of recruitment without their knowledge and it is believed Fulton is attempting to bring Schuster to the club.

“From the outside looking in, I like this from Benji, I really do,” Anasta said on NRL360.

“Because if he’s going to be the future coach of that club he needs to have his hands all over it, he needs to be in control of keeping player that come to the club.”

Wests Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis has already shot down a rift between the coaches and Fulton but the whispers won’t go away.

Marshall was a strong advocate to keep Brooks at the club post-2023 but the halfback has announced he’ll be leaving Wests Tigers for Manly in 2024.
