Adam O’Brien’s coaching tenure may well end up depending on the reported switch of star and captain Kalyn Ponga from fullback to five-eigth after the coach confirmed Ponga had been training in the halves at Newcastle ahead of the season commencing.

“He’s been training at six all summer and he has been doing a really good job at it,” O’Brien told SEN Radio.

Former Knights boss Nathan Brown also attempted to move Ponga into the number 6 jersey with little success with Brown eventually being moved on.
