New Zealand Warriors young gun Chanel Tavita-Harris has announced his shock retirement at the tender age of just 23 but will finish the season for the nomad Warriors who are yet to return to Auckland.

Tavita-Harris has 44 games to his name but according to The Daily Telegraph, wants to spend more time travelling in the coming years.

“I want to take a break from rugby league,” he said.

“I’ve made the decision in the last couple of weeks.

“Over the last year, I haven’t been enjoying it as much as I want to, even though being an NRL player was something I dreamed of as a kid.”
