You’re not out of the woods just yet Michael Maguire. That’s the message from Wests Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis despite the embattled side shocking Parramatta and South Sydney in consecutive weekends.
Speaking on SEN – where his company Bryden’s Lawyers is a major sponsor – Hagipantelis asked for more consistency on the back of two straight wins.
“We’re not getting ahead of ourselves,” he told Andrew Voss’ show.
“They were two very good wins against two premiership heavyweights no doubt, and from my perspective, it’s simply the realisation of the potential that I think exists in that roster.
“Now, Michael is providing a glimpse of what this team is capable of and we’re excited by that.
“But the challenge will be of course maintaining that, but the last two weeks have been consistent and the grittiest performance of this team in my tenure as chair and I couldn’t be more proud of the boys.
“But as I say, Michael’s challenge is to continue that on a consistent basis.”
Wests Tigers play St George Illawarra in Wollongong this Sunday.
