‘We actually feel sorry for Latrell’: Joey Manu’s father pleads for online abuse of suspended Rabbitoh to stop

Joey Manu’s father has called for online abuse of Latrell Mitchell to stop after Friday night’s fiery contest between South Sydney and the Roosters went into overdrive when Mitchell hit Manu with an illegal tackle that finished Manu’s season and broke his cheekbone.

Mitchell has since pleaded guilty and will miss the remainder of the season.

“We actually feel sorry for Latrell,” Nooroa Manu told The Sydney Morning Herald.

“He’s copping a lot of abuse and we don’t want that happening. We want to make sure he’s going to be all right too.

“He’s very talented and we know his family, they are really good people. That’s just how we feel and it’s up to Joey how he feels. It was just unfortunate.

“Joey is ready to move forward and we’re happy as a family. I think the main thing is we move on.”

The Roosters are currently under investigation after it was revealed that several incidents happened during and after the match involving injured players and Mitchell.
