“It was terrible”: Maroons legend at a loss as to how Queensland come back from 50-6 demolition

Queensland State of Origin legend Paul Vautin has hammered the Maroons after their embarrassing 50-6 defeat at the hands of New South Wales in Townsville on Wednesday night saying “that’s one of the worst I’ve ever seen.”

The Blues were ruthless with Tom Trbojevic and Latrell Mitchell carving up a Queensland outfit that never looked in it.

“Well that was no fun at all,” Vautin said post-match on Channel Nine’s coverage.

“It was terrible.”

“I don’t know where they go from here. Let’s give credit to New South Wales for a start… they were outstanding right from the get-go.

“Nathan Cleary took control of the game. There was a period during the second half when Junior Paulo and Payne Haas took the field, the commandeered the middle of the ruck and they carved them up.

“On the back of that, they were able to score more tries through Tommy and Latrell.

Trbojevic nabbed three votes in the Beetson Raudonikis Medal with Mitchell picking up two.

Rookie five-eigth Jarome Luai scored one vote.
