Immortal Andrew Johns tipping Roosters on the back of Jake Friend’s inclusion

Rugby league Immortal Andrew Johns is tipping the Sydney Roosters to eliminate Canberra from the 2020 premiership race on the back of veteran hooker Jake Friend’s inclusion.

Writing for The Sydney Morning Herald, Johns also believes both sets of players wouldn’t have bought into rivalry between the head coaches.

“The players don’t care and it won’t determine the result. What will are the inclusions for the Roosters,” Johns said.

“And Jake Friend is a massive one for the Chooks. Freddy Lussick, the young replacement for him last week, did very well but he’s only played four games in 12 months. It was such a big ask.

“Friend sets the tone for their defence. He leads the kick-chase, the speed of the line and cleans up around the ruck.”
