‘Sharks need more’: Immortal says Shaun Johnson is facing NSW Cup demotion

Immortal Andrew Johns believes under fire Cronulla Sharks half Shaun Johnson is faxing the axe if he doesn’t have a big game against North Queensland tonight at Shark Park.

Johnson has shown glimpses of his best but has mostly struggled since moving to the Shire from Auckland.

“One player under pressure is Shaun Johnson. I can see Kyle Flanagan coming back into the team if Johnson doesn’t aim up against North Queensland,” Johns wrote for The Sydney Morning Herald.

“A little bit like the team itself, he might be on his last warning. I thought he did some OK things against his old club the Warriors last week, but the Sharks still need more.

“Having said that, his combination with Briton Nikora on the right edge is really starting to flourish. I think Johnson will have a big game. The Sharks need him to and he needs to, especially with Matt Moylan out with a hamstring injury.”
