Johnathan Thurston wants Maroons to open ‘scars’ on ‘whipping boy’ Pearce

Retired Queensland legend Johnathan Thurston wants the Maroons to rip open Mitchell Pearce’s old State of Origin wounds in tonight’s series decider at Homebush.

“He’s been the whipping boy for NSW at times,” Thurston told 2GB.

“He came into this Origin side as a really young player and played against probably the best ever Origin side through that period.

“No doubt he’ll have some psychological scars from that and I think if we can apply a bit of pressure, hopefully, we can bring him unstuck.”

Queensland a weaker team with Cameron Munster at fullback: Johns

Thurston famously sledged Pearce a few years back as QLD romped to another series win telling the under siege Blues playmaker the closer he’d ever get to the shield was standing next to the Wally Lewis statue outside Suncorp Stadium.
