Angry rugby league fans in Victoria have blasted Channel Nine after last night’s third and final State of Origin for not showing the post-match presentation.
Many took to Twitter to vent when Nine Melbourne went straight to the AFL Footy Show at full-time instead of showing New South Wales hold up the shield and Melbourne Storm legend Billy Slater give his Man of the Series speech. It was also Slater’s last ever match for the Maroons.
Why was the afl footy show not put on Thursday night FFS @Channel9 we have had a @nrl team in Melbourne @storm for 20 years. In case you had forgotten. Do we need to go back to the old imparja days of illegal feeds to watch post match coverage. #channelnein

@Channel9 Sorry Cam and Billy we didnβt get to see the presentation in your own state cause #channel9 went straight to AFL show to piss #NRL fans off. We appreciate you boys even if #channel9 #Melbourne donβt. Disgusting and I apologise at their arrogance on your last game #nrl

Bloody @Channel9 cutting the #StateOfOrigin game off after the last second of game play, for the trash @AFL show on their channel. Ugh!!
Guess what guys – there are HEAPS of @NRL fans in Victoria, that's why we host our own team, @storm, in the state. Idiots!!
