Rising star Kalyn Ponga to make State of Origin debut

Kalyn Ponga will make his State of Origin debut for Queensland at ANZ Stadium in Game II.

“He’s been playing some good football for the Newcastle Knights this year and he’s been knocking on the door – he was very close [to being selected] for game one,” Maroons coach Kevin Walters said.

“He’s a been a standout in the competition. I think everyone’s seen how good he’s been for the Newcastle Knights. He’s got the potential to be a long-term player [for Queensland].”
