Todd Carney is set to officially sign with the North Queensland Cowboys after the club lodged a contract with the NRL.
Carney is currently playing for a feeder side to the Cowboys – the Northern Pride.
“The Cowboys have made the first step, they have lodged the contract so we will see what happens when they assess it,” Northern Pride CEO Greg Dowling told News.
“You never know what the NRL decides. I’m hoping they don’t knock it back but there is always that possibility.”
The announcement could come as early as tomorrow.
Last year he played for Salford in the English Super League and hasn’t played in the NRL since 2014.
