Bankwest is copping a pasting from people on social media over their apparent discrimination against rugby league.

An e-mail is doing the rounds which has been posted to Twitter countless times showing a Bankwest employee explaining why they refuse grants to rugby league clubs despite sponsoring rugby union and AFL.

Bankwest ‘Easy Grants’ are explained on their website.

“We’ve supported over 1,800 community groups on the journey towards achieving their goals, with grants of up to $1,000,” the site reads.

But when an official from a local rugby league club was knocked back he was given this reply by ‘Anna’ in the Easy Grants Team: “Rugby league is considered a dangerous a [sic] sport which can result in injury, so at this point in time we do not give out Easy Grants to any Rugby League clubs.”

Fans have called for a boycott of Bankwest.
