The Johnathan Thurston retirement tour could have another date added to it with the NZ Herald reporting that the NRL is close to signing off on an Indigenous Australia versus NZ Māori match set to be played on the representative weekend alongside State of Origin and the Pacific Test matches.

Thurston could potentially come up against the likes of fellow veteran Benji Marshall in a rematch of the 2005 grand final.

It would appear Kiwi superstars like Shaun Johnson would be unavailable due to Kiwi Test duties.
