The Daily Telegraph is under fire from furious Canterbury Bulldogs fans after an article directly linked accused terrorist Khaled Khayat with the famous footy club.
An image of Khayat in a Bulldogs jersey was used on the front page of the Tuesday edition of the newspaper with the title, ‘BULLDOG AND A ‘BOMB’’.
Dailytelegraph.com.au has since edited the online version of the story, removing any mention of the Bulldogs, instead calling Khayat a “footy fan”.
Supporters of the Canterbury club went into meltdown on Tuesday morning with the Bulldogs later tweeting: “We are extremely disappointed at the article in the Daily Telegraph this morning & are currently investigating the matter today.”
It continues a bitter divide between Sydney’s biggest selling newspaper and NRL fans.
@NRL_Bulldogs hope the club will be sueing the telegraph for deformation after this front page pic.twitter.com/BPSwdmKZU3

The Daily Telegraph is absolutely disgusting. I'm no fan of the Bulldogs, but they need to sue and cut ties with the paper for defamation.
