Mark Carroll says Blues must start David Klemmer in bid to shut out ‘maggot’ Queensland crowd

Former New South Wales enforcer Mark Carroll has a plan to bring down Queensland in the deciding Game III labelling Maroons fans “maggots” in the process.

Carroll wants the Blues to start David Klemmer in place of Andrew Fifita who followed up his Game I domination with a disappointing showing in Game II.

“Klemmer and (Aaron) Woods have got a great rapport with each other and they should bash the crap out of them for 20, 25 minutes at the start,” Carroll told ESPN.com.au.

“Then bring on Fifita. He’s 120 kilos, with his footwork and finesse.

“I reckon Klemmer has got to start. He’s a starting prop — the last two Origin games he’s done about 180 metres each game, 20 carries — come on, let him start like a madman and bash ‘em.

“And I mean bash’ em. Old school, get out there and just lay some platform. There should be a softening-up period, I love that.

“NSW have to smash them. If Queensland score first we’re in a lot of trouble — 50,000 maggots up there will go crazy — but after having two monsters like Klemmer and Woods running at them, Queensland will be stuffed.”
